Flex Day Feild Trip

3. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the top score, how would you rate the quality of the work environment you saw here, and why?

I think I'll rate it about a 7. Its a pretty nice space and the envoirnment isn't so bad, it may be dirty in some places or too crowded, but otherwise it's pretty good and safe.

2 Observations/Reflections:
1. I think when we went to both the places the guides explained everything they do and how people work there, it was well explain which made the questions easy to answer.
2. It was interesting to see what type of jobs were there at the factory.

End-of-Book Reflection Questions

The Revealers

Begin brainstorming the answers with members of your group!

1. Ms. Hogeboom told Russell that everyone was reading the Revealer and that the atmosphere of the school was changing…”It was like a small revolution” (175). Explain what she means about the school culture and their affect on it.

She means that the Revealer really got in touch with the students and that they knew that this was happening to lots of people in the school, not just to them.

2. Describe why The Revealers project was so successful with students and judges alike.

It was a successful project because it was unique unlike the others, and it involved all the steps of a real science project and lots of information. It showed all the hypothesis and results and even videos.

3. Russell, Elliot, and Catalina's hypothesis for their science fair project was "if bullying and harassment incidents were brought to light among the whole student body in a school then there will be a reduction in these incidents as well as them being less severe in nature"(194). Did the three main characters prove their hypothesis? Discuss. What is one way you could use technology to improve the school at AISD?

Yes they proved it, because when they published other students' stories on the Revealer, everyone else read them and later bullying incidents decreased and got less violent.

Elliots Expose

When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.

"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)

Blog Question:
What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)

I think the message he is trying to get across is that whenever there is a bullying situation everyone automatically becomes part of it. Even though you aren't directly involved in it you are still part of it because you don't do anything about it. Or maybe you think its ok for it to go and if you do think that, you are definatley a part of it.
